Adebayo Triumphs at 6th BON Sports Classic Amateur Golf Tourney
Sola Adebayo Claims Victory
Sola Adebayo, former competition secretary at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, claimed victory at the 6th BON Sports Classic amateur golf tournament.
Held over two days at the IBB Golf Club, the event saw over 250 golfers compete, with Adebayo finishing on top with a remarkable gross score of 75. Playing off a handicap of 8, Adebayo credited his win to consistent practice.
“I’m very happy with my performance. Golf is a demanding game—if you don’t play regularly, you lose your edge,” he shared.
Adebayo also commended the tournament for its focus on charity, saying, “The organizers have done an excellent job using this event to support the underprivileged.”
Bose Ngozi Onwuegbu, CEO of Bon Sports Promotions and Events Limited, expressed excitement over the tournament’s success, emphasizing its charitable contributions to widows, orphans, and the less fortunate.
“Despite tough economic conditions, nearly 300 participants joined. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to charity, while the rest will fund next year’s edition. We must all support efforts to reduce poverty,” she said.
Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, praised the event for fostering grassroots talent and promoting golf as an Olympic sport. He stressed the importance of such initiatives in identifying potential champions for the country.
The 6th BON Sports Classic concluded with great success, highlighting the event’s dedication to both sports excellence and social impact.
